How it works

Three steps, no account

From dropped file to finished download in seconds.

  1. 01

    Pick the tool

Click the icon for the conversion you want. Each opens with the output format ready.

  2. 02

    Drop the file

Drag it onto the big area or click to browse. You can drop several at once.

  3. 03

    Download right away

Conversion runs in your browser and the download starts by itself. Several files? They come as a .zip.

Privacy

Your file never passes through us, because it doesn't need to

Most online converters send your document to a server, convert it there and hand back the result. That means a contract, a payslip or an internal report left your computer and sat, even if only for a few minutes, on someone else's machine.

pdfjá works differently: all the conversion code is downloaded to your browser on the first visit and runs right there. There is no upload endpoint, no file bucket, no processing queue. Disconnect from the internet after the page loads and conversion keeps working.

Under the hood

Why this is genuinely fast

No queue, no waiting and no dependence on your upload speed.

The network is usually the bottleneck

On a traditional converter, a 40 MB PDF has to travel up your connection, wait its turn in the server queue and then come back down. Most of the time you spend staring at that progress bar is upload, not conversion. Here the file is already where the work happens: processing starts the instant you drop it.

Text stays text

Documents, spreadsheets, CSV and JSON are drawn into the PDF as real text, with headings, lists and tables built row by row. The result is a light file you can select, copy and search with Ctrl+F — unlike converters that simply photograph the page.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion happens inside your browser, using your own device's processor. The file never leaves the device, never touches our infrastructure and is never stored anywhere.

Do I need an account or have to pay?

No. There is no sign-up, no login, no daily limit and no paid plan. The site is funded by discreet ads placed beside the content.

Is there a file size limit?

The limit is your device's memory, not our server. On an ordinary computer, files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine. On older phones, prefer smaller files.

Which formats can I convert?

Images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG, AVIF), Word documents (.docx), spreadsheets (XLSX, XLS, ODS, CSV), data (JSON), text (TXT, Markdown), HTML pages and PDF in both directions.

Does the generated PDF keep the text selectable?

Yes. Documents, spreadsheets and text are drawn as real text in the PDF, so you can select, copy and search. The exception is PDF compression, which turns pages into images to cut the size down.

Does it work offline?

Once the page has loaded, yes. You can go offline and keep converting, because all the conversion code is already in your browser.
